(NYC stops over 1 million people on the street per year)

NYC population = 8.4M

Assuming 550,000 NYC "stop and frisks" per year as a good average.

10% of those stop-and-frisks get arrested = 55,000 arrests/495,000 no arrests

Assuming 800,000 NYC arrests per year total (including those 55000 stop-and-frisk arrests).

You wind up with:
495,000 stop and frisks with no arrest
+ 800,000 total arrests
= 1,295,000 police "contacts" per year in NYC.

That means that one in seven NYC residents is either stopped and frisked by the police or outright arrested or charged for some crime or other.

One in TEN is arrested or charged with a crime.

Or, one out of 17 NYC residents is stopped on the street and frisked/searched/interrogated without being charged with any crime and their info is put into a police database.

Let that sink in for a moment.

I constantly hear whining from the moonbats that the NRA is somehow a "Republican" organization that only serves to attack Democrats. Well, like most anti-gun-owner "facts," that claim is 100% false.

Calling him a “great friend to gun owners and hunters in the Lone Star State,” the National Rifle Association (NRA) on Tuesday formally endorsed Democratic Rep. Nick Lampson (Texas), who is in a pitched battle to continue representing a solidly Republican district.

The endorsement from the powerful gun lobby — which has already blessed Lampson with an “A” voting record — could go a long way toward combating the attempts by Lampson’s Republican challenger, Pete Olson, to paint Lampson as a liberal.

The Olson campaign did not respond to a request for comment.

Lampson is now at least the seventh House Democrat to win an endorsement from the Second Amendment protectionist lobby.

The court in Wyoming v. United States, as the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence had urged in its amicus brief, prohibited Wyoming from implementing its law to rearm domestic violence abusers. . .

Wyoming v U.S. concerned a Wyoming statute that allowed domestic violence abusers to regain their right to possess firearms by expunging misdemeanor abuse convictions, but only for purposes of getting a firearm. The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) ruled that Wyoming could not expunge an abuser's record solely for purposes of getting a gun -- either the person is a danger or he poses no threat and can have his conviction completely expunged. Wyoming sued to overturn ATF's ruling. . . .

One week until SB43 day; three until others

On the 27th of Feb., MD gun owners will (yet) again descend on Annapolis to defend our rights for the first of THREE times this legislative session.

This first hearing is on the senate bill to ban s0-called assault weapons, including ALL semi-auto pistols (I'm not kidding).

March 9 is the House hearing on all gun bills, like CCW and the allowing of Montgomery County to adopt DC-style gun control laws.

March 14 is the House hearing on the supposed "tax bill" concerning s0-called assault weapons. Half of the guns listed by name in the tax bill are already TOTALLY ILLEGAL for sale in MD, so what is the real purpose of the bill?

Dollars-to-donuts it is to get any gun-type bill onto the House floor so it can be amended into a full-blown BAN.

We cannot let that happen, at all costs. If at all possible, please be there to at least show your opposition to the Senate's so-called assault weapons ban. The senate judiciary committee is the chokepoint where we can stop a House-passed bill cold, and is our last hope (the next-to-last being the House judiciary committee).
